Sample of Chapter Thirteen
Summary of Deliverance Techniques
"The kingdom of God is not just talking: it is living by God's power."--I Corinthians 4:20.
You must not just read this book and put it back on a shelf. Your child will never be protected, never experience deliverance if you don't work it out through obedience. The steps are simple and are not time consuming, but they must be taken to arrive at a conclusion. They require commitment on the part of the parent. You must pray, pray, pray --either do it or get it, both are best. "Don't worry about anything, instead, pray about everything."--Philippians 4:6. Many times freedom is complete and immediate, other times it must be won in sections. Having set our feet firmly upon the foundation of Jesus Christ, we are ready to consider the task of deliverance.
PRAYER CLOTHS
We get the concept of prayer cloths from Acts 19:11-12: "And God gave Paul the power to do unusual miracles, so that even when his handkerchiefs or part of his clothing were placed upon sick people, they were healed, and any demons within them came out." Some churches pray over them and hand them out for the healing of the sick. If you know of someone who has a strong enough relationship with God to carry that kind of anointing, by all means give it a try. Can't hurt, but might not help if they were merely given out in a religious spirit and not under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
WORSHIP AND PRAISE
Worship and praise are two very powerful deliverance techniques, they break the yoke of the enemy. If you are praying deliverance, you may use a tape player to play praise and worship music in the background. For a young child, you might buy a tape player with an auto-reverse mode that will play the tape continuously as the child sleeps. For an older child, you may have to resort to playing the tape in their room when they are not at home.
Each time the Temple was built or restored, music was played as the builders labored. "...The Levites who were skilled musicians played background music while the work progressed."—II Chronicles 34:12. Deliverance is in a sense, an act of rebuilding or restoring our Temple - therefore, it is biblically appropriate to play music during a deliverance session.
One night before I started speaking in tongues, I had a powerful and precious experience. I had been praying and worshipping alone in my room and suddenly, the Lord gave me a song in tongues. Surprised, I remember thinking, "Wow, that was interesting." After the song concluded, I turned out the light and went to bed, noticing that the time was exactly eleven o’clock. The next thing I knew, I was having a vision/dream/visitation/something. I thought that there was and angel in my room trying to tell me something because I could see very bright lights. Light within light, and I could hear singing. It sounded as though it must have been the most beautiful soprano voice that had ever touched human ears. I was afraid that I had missed the first part of the message and said "Stop, stop." Hint: If an angel is ever singing to you, don’t say "Stop, stop." Because they will. I had meant "start over". When it stopped, I awoke, only fifteen minutes after going to bed. (I never fall asleep in less than an hour and certainly not into a dream state in only fifteen minutes.) Immediately, something ran across my rooftop and my dog barked hysterically, something the dog had never done before even though animals occasionally run on our roof. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, "Those were demons fleeing." I remember thinking, "Oh, cool." I mean, what can one say to such a thing? I have no idea if the demons had been in, or just around the house (It had not been them singing) but the song made them flee. Later, the Lord told me, "Nedalee, the angel’s song was an interpretation of what you had sung to me. I wanted you to know how beautiful it was to me." Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I am not a soprano, I can’t carry a tune, and I had no idea what-so-ever that I could do anything that the Lord would consider beautiful.
WASHING WITH THE WORD
As we have already discussed, washing with the word is both biblical and effective. It cleanses our minds and implants God's truths into our spirits. "How can a young man stay pure? By reading your Word.--Psalm 119:9. We can pray and ask the Lord, Open my eyes to see wonderful things in your word. Reassure me that your promises are for me."--Psalm 119:18&38. The word can be read out loud, or listened to on tape. By making sure that it is being read out loud, both you and the demons will hear it, because demons can not read your mind.
A practical way to get bits of the Word into a small child is to give them a meaningful scripture of ten words or less and help them memorize it. My children now look forward to this daily process which only takes a few minutes. They don’t realize that we are doing devotions as I take a moment to explain or quiz them on who is speaking or who it’s about. The real reason that the look forward to this time is because I reward them with a star for each time they get the scripture right, and another for each time they remember the address. The oldest needs 20 stars for a candy reward and the five-year-old only needs ten stars since it is harder for him and I don’t want him to become discouraged. I keep the scriptures posted even after we have gone on to a new one so that they can review them from time to time. They think that they are doing this for stars and candy, but I know that we are planting truth into their hearts, spirits and minds. End Sample.
